Playerbots

Frostforge is designed as a guided Warcraft lore campaign. Because the server is built for a smaller community, Playerbots help keep the world playable, especially during quieter hours.

Playerbots are AI-controlled characters that can join your group, help with questing, fill dungeon roles, and make the world feel more alive.

Why Playerbots are used

  • They allow players to complete dungeon chapters even when few real players are online.
  • They help solo players experience group content.
  • They make the world feel more active.
  • They support the campaign structure without forcing players to wait for a full group.

Playerbots are not meant to replace real players. They are there to support the campaign and make progression smoother.

Adding bots to your group

The easiest way to use Playerbots is by inviting them to your party. Once grouped, they will follow you and assist during combat.

Common ways to invite bots:

/invite Botname

You can also use available Playerbot interface tools or commands, depending on what is enabled on the server.

A good basic group setup is:

  • 1 tank
  • 1 healer
  • 3 damage dealers

For dungeon campaign chapters, try to build a balanced group before entering the dungeon.

Basic commands

Playerbots respond to party chat commands. Type these commands in party chat using /p.

Command What it does
/p attack Orders bots to attack your current target.
/p follow Orders bots to follow you.
/p stay Orders bots to stay in place.
/p flee Orders bots to move away from danger.
/p grind Lets bots attack nearby enemies more actively.

Recommended dungeon control

For dungeons, it is usually best to play carefully and guide the bots yourself.

  • Mark or target the enemy you want to kill first.
  • Use /p attack to make bots focus your target.
  • Pull slowly, especially in narrow corridors or rooms with many enemies.
  • Give healers time to drink if they run low on mana.
  • Do not rush into large packs unless your group is ready.

Bots are helpful, but they are not perfect. Treat them like party members that need clear direction.

Useful macro

You can create a simple macro to make your bots attack your current target:

/p attack

Put this macro on your action bar and press it when you want your bots to engage.

If you are playing a melee character, you can combine it with your own attack:

/startattack
/p attack

Tips for a smoother experience

  • Use a tank bot if you are playing a healer or damage dealer.
  • Use a healer bot if you are playing a tank or melee class.
  • Do not overpull.
  • Use line of sight in dungeons to pull casters safely.
  • Wait for your group before starting boss fights.

Playerbots and the campaign

Frostforge uses dungeons as major story chapters. Playerbots make sure these chapters remain accessible even when the server population is small.

You can still play with real players whenever possible. Playerbots simply make sure the campaign can continue when no full group is available.
